To ensure league leaderboards, awards consideration, and historical comparisons reflect sustained performance rather than statistical flukes, the NBA sets minimum thresholds (such as games played, minutes, or attempts) that a player must meet before qualifying for official rate-stat rankings. However, these minimum requirements have varied greatly over the years, so the current year's requirements don't always generalize to past seasons.
