Basketball Reference users often note that are some players listed on the NBA active leaderboards who have not played in the NBA for a few seasons. While we do review this list at the beginning of every season, we tend to err on the side of caution when deciding a player is no longer active, since some players are playing in international leagues or are working toward a potential NBA comeback. If a player has specifically declared his intention to retire, however, we will remove him from the list in that case.
