Nationalities and Confederations

Nationalities and Confederations

For a player to be accepted as an answer for a nationality category in Immaculate Footy, the player must have nationality with that country. If the player has dual-nationality, they will match for both countries unless they have appeared in a senior national team competition covered on FBref. In that case, they will only count for the country that they represented internationally. Once a player is "cap tied" for a nation (i.e. they have played in a senior international competition, or have made a one-time switch to a new nation) they will only count for that country in that the game.

For example, Brahim Díaz would have been an accepted answer for Spain prior to his international switch to Morocco. As he now represents Morocco internationally, however, he will only count as an answer for Morocco in the grid.

For more information on how nationalities are determined, see the following page:

Continental nationality categories in Immaculate Footy are based on confederations, e.g. for the "Asian Nationality" category the player’s nationality must be with a nation in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). Notably, that means that Australia internationals will work for the Asian Nationality category (because Australia competes in the AFC) and not the Oceania category.

In case you are unsure of the country being asked for in the grid, clicking on the country flags will display the name of the country in question.

Similarly, clicking on the continent categories will display the name of the confederation that represents that continent.
